Twitter doesn't exist

The dark side of AI

Good morning, this is LGTM. The newsletter that’s here to warn you against trying the latest trend like “raw water”…..

Here’s what we have for you this week:

  • Twitter doesn’t exist

  • The dark side of AI

What’s really going on at Twitter

Turns out Elon Musk’s end goal in buying Twitter is to turn it into an “everything app” like China’s infamous WeChat.

And Musk is well on his way to doing this, though it hasn’t been discussed much. Musk told the remaining Twitter employees left that they will be eligible to receive stocks in “X Corporation,” which is the name of the holding company set up to purchase Twitter.

Court filings show Twitter no longer exists, and now has been merged with X Corporation.

Musk has hinted he plans to merge SpaceX, Tesla, The Boring Company, and Neuralink into the X Corp, though regulators may step in the way.

We can’t believe we’re saying this, but maybe Twitter is the hottest company to get into now, if you possibly can. Musk has talked of ballooning Twitter’s valuation- telling current employee’s that that soon Twitter could be worth $250 billion.

AI turned hitman

If you don’t know about “swatting”, it’s when someone calls 911 and pretends that there’s an emergency in order to get an armed SWAT team to raid a house, a school, an office, or really anywhere. Swatting has become the go-to way for anti-social people on the internet to get back at others, and it’s apparently becoming even easier for people to do now that voices can be synthesized using AI.

Now, you don’t even need to do it yourself because there’s a service that will do the swatting for a fee.

Is this what Open AI intended for when they made AI available to the public? Probably not, but it’s what we’re getting.

AI is a powerful tool, but it’s alarming that AI is being used for darkness so soon after its release. Why is it that we’re only hearing about the straight up Joker shit that it’s being used for? It’s either that or they’re using it to cheat on exams. Where’s the Batman of AI when you need him?

Batman will not save you from AI

Are these threats being inflated by the media?

Well, it’s being used to call in bomb threats to high schools and armed shooter reports to homes, which is pretty intense, so yeah it might affect you.

Our advice: Don’t make enemies. People are always going to find ways to make other people miserable, and AI is opening a whole new world of payback opportunities. Be nice and maybe, just maybe, people on the internet won’t ruin your life. We can’t promise anything, though.
